Coloquest's all digital Chicago Network consists of a blend of top transit
providers including Level(3), AboveNet, and Cogent. With advanced routing
technology, traffic takes the shortest, least congested routes on any of our
available upstreams. Multiple gigabit connections maximize uptime and ensure
stable network connectivity. Pure Level(3) bandwidth is provided in any
Level(3) or Equinix facilities outside of Chicago.
The Level(3)
digital fiber-optic network is one of the most
extensive and complex data distribution grids in the world.
Engineered for stability and efficiency, Level(3)'s
bandwidth architecture spreads over 20,000 miles throughout the
U.S. and Europe. Multi-conduit construction allows the network to
be constantly upgraded with the latest technologies, ensuring that
the services you receive are always the best available.
Peering with other Tier-1 providers
means that the transmission of data to the end user takes the shortest
route, providing the fastest and most stable connection possible.
The AboveNet
backbone has been optimized for scalability, survivability, performance,
efficiency and manageability. The current AboveNet
network consists of a set of sites interconnected in a partial mesh
and will be extended to accommodate a larger number of sites moving
toward a two level hierarchy. This two level approach allows arbitrary
scaling at either level according to various technological and business
imperatives.
AboveNet hubs are connected via AboveNet
fiber and DWDM equipment terminating the fiber. This infrastructure
enables AboveNet to deliver a high level of availability
and fast Internet response for both domestic and international traffic.
Cogent's end-to-end
optical network consists of multiple metropolitan IP-over-WDM
fiber rings located in Cogent's major markets throughout the United
States and Europe. Cogent currently has a presence
in over 86 markets throughout the United States and Europe.
With a currently implemented capacity of 80 Gbit/s in the United
States and 40 Gbit/s in Europe, Cogent's multi-national IP network
is the largest in the world and is scalable to a total capacity
of over one Terabit.
